Important change to the rules

Thanks for supporting the ConnectNYC Fiber Challenge! To make it easier to complete your submission in time, we’ve recently made an amendment to the rules, and added resources to help you reach out to your landlord.

Landlord Agreement no longer required to submit

Contestants are no longer required to submit a signed Landlord Agreement with their submission to be eligible for the competition. However, finalists will be required to provide a hand-signed Landlord Agreement after receiving notification that they are a potential finalist. Please note: contestants will not advance to Phase II of the evaluation process without this signed agreement. If you are able, we still encourage you to submit a signed Landlord Agreement with your submission. For more details, see Section 8 (F) in the Official Rules.

How to approach your landlord

While the Landlord Agreement is not required to submit, we strongly encourage you to begin conversations with your landlord early, as all potential finalists will be asked to provide the letter before winners are announced.

Visit our resources page to download an email template and a flyer to send to your landlord. These explain everything about the challenge, so you don’t have to. (Or feel free to write your own!)

Submission tip: spread the word

One of the judging criteria for this competition is Potential for Industry Clustering (weighted at 30%). You’ll score higher in this category if other businesses in your area submit an application, so it’s really important to let other companies and landlords know about this offer. Feel free to share the above flyer with a small business or landlord nearby.
